Determine your eligibility for a Permanent Resident card

Eligibility Requirements:

1) Legal Status

The applicant must be a permanent resident of Canada.

2) Validity

The current PR card must have a validity period of less than 9 months or have already expired.

3) Residency Obligation

The applicant must have met the residency obligation of being physically present in Canada for at least 730 days out of the last five years, or have met the requirements for an exemption. The residency obligation is a requirement for maintaining permanent resident status in Canada.

4) Unfulfilled Conditions

The applicant must not have any unfulfilled conditions related to their PR status. For example, if an applicant was granted permanent resident status on the condition that they obtain a certain level of education within a specific timeframe, and they have not yet met that requirement, their PR card renewal application will be refused. Similarly, if an applicant's PR status was renewed on the condition that they provide updated medical information or undergo medical treatment, and they have not yet fulfilled that requirement, their PR card renewal application may be refused.

If you want a lawyer to review your completed application, you can purchase a lawyer review and consultation for an additional $149. Additional applicable government fees are not included. If your application is denied by the IRCC, we will refund you 100% of our application preparation fees.
